As Christmas approached and as the year ends, its quite shocking to know how quick a year has gone by. What have I been doing all this while? Alot I must say but whether it is worth the time and effort. The musical was different this time around. Maybe because I was on stage. Its been some time. I wondered why it took that long. Caught up with the rat race? Afraid to commit? Being on stage rekindled memories of times back in uni. Even my trip down Malacca to see my sister directorial debut make me feel all nostalgic once again. It was great times. And it has been good times. Times when we get to do what we love as well as be with people we call as family. Brothers and sisters. Being together as one brings about great energy. An energy that give life. A life that we all have in Christ. 

I have received many comments by being on stage. Good they say. They enjoyed it. I enjoyed it. It was fun. So fun that I missed a little part of it after it ended. Well, all good things must come to an end. But can that end be delayed very much longer? It got me thinking of what I am doing now. Should I pursue it or let fear grip my heart that I will regret some day? Tough I know yet I will ask of Him to direct my path. That I may do what is pleasing to Him and at the same time enjoying every minute of it. Life is short. Even the years are too. Time waits for no man. Can man make time wait? I think we can if  make the best our of the time that we have. That was what I felt over the weekend.

Romp the net to find tips on writing a good resume. Came across the new updated list of Top 100 Companies to work for. An obvious company top the list, the tool that everyone use to find information, just as how I scoured the net to find tips on writing a good resume.

Saw a video on why Google was the top company in the world. Flexibility and openess seem to be the key to their success. Came across a this video when I was looking through the Google site previously. It really gets you up from your seat desiring to work for such a great company like Google. Another link that I came across which was quite useful was the number of videos available on writing a good resume. A good number of samples resume to follow can be found here. I’ve not completed my resume just yet but done most of it. Got all the available roles available in my existing company. More to view from others. To stay in IT or not would be a subject I will deliberating the next couple of weeks. Praying for direction.

Awesome. One word to describe this fanboy movie. Truly enjoyed every moment of it. The CGI from ILM was imaculously perfect. The suit was simply eye catching. Don’t believe me? Check it out below.

I’ts been quite some time I’ve seen Robert Downey Jr. after his famous drug rehab story. Guess he did quite a good job as the “anything also can” character. One of the most worthy character was Obadiah Stane played by Jeff Bridges. Man, does he look cool in the bald bearded persoanality. Gwyneth Paltrow looks incredible. Just a word of advice for fanboys, stay till the end of credits. Man, I’m thinking of getting the action figure. Hear that its being sold at Jusco for RM82 (members) but I believe they’re be selling like hot cakes after seeing the movie.

The show was quite good for my liking. I seem to have a liking for fun filled adventure movies. The thing that caught my eye was the young boy, Alex Etel whom I first saw in “Millions“. It was a movie I truly enjoyed watching especially with its creative displayed cinematography that reminded me of “Big Fish“, which is also one of my favorite title. Water Horse depicts a young boy who found what he believe was a strange rock that appeared to be a big egg that holds a mystical creature known by many as water horse. According to legendary belief, water horse exist by itself both as male and female. Only one can exist at a time. When one water horse dies, an egg is laid. Thus, another water horse will soon exist. Angus, the young boy soon form a close relationship with the creature. However, people in the neighbourhood mainly army personel who started to camp around the Loch Ness to be in the front line to counter evading Germans wanted to destroy it. However, Angus went all out to show that the water horse was not dangerous but as a friend. This tale was told by Angus himself when he was old to two young tourist who stopped by to have a drink.

It did bring back good memories of the killer whale. Yet told in a different mood that somehow capture your attention.

As usual right before the movie, we dined. This time we decided to go for something Oriental and headed in a Vietnamese restaurant called O’Viet Restaurant and Cafe (G1.45). Not many people were found inside the restaurant. Both myself and Kelvin had Brisket stew that came with rice while Terry got himself something like “kuay teow teng” that came with a plate of raw mint leaves and bean sprout. Food was alright. Being a stew fan, I couldn’t help to enjoy my serving. My initial thought was to go for something light. However, I decided to go for rice instead considering a serving of 3 spring rolls cost about RM10.

Dr. Seuss’ Horton Hears a Who

Cute. Thats the best I can describe these lovable creatures. I could imagine to plush toys in Toys’R'Us once they came on screen. Simple story line yet intriguing at the same time. The story revolves around an elephant who took notice of a speck after hearing something from it that got him to a journey to find the best place for the speck to be placed considering it was a planet by itself. While going on the journey, he was faced with many obstacles from the animals who thought he was crazy and was a bad influence to their kids, thus seeking to destroy it. The story somehow reminded me about Men In Black about how Earth can just be a planet in a small universe contained in a little key chain. Don and Terry were laughing their socks out due to the many reference made to anime and some other movies which I didn’t really catch it or found it extremely funny. But it was funny alright and guess its a good medicine after a boring day at work.

Gone Baby Gone

My expectation were pretty going into the theater after hearing great reviews from a friends of mine. Guess that was my mistake going into the movie and thus expectation sometimes placed too high can disappoint your movie experiences. It was an alright movie for me. The crux of the movie seemingly revolve around integrity and the subtleness of good and bad. A down to earth private investigator was brought in to investigate the disappearance of a missing child only to find themselves embroiled in a conspiracy that test his integrity. It was either turning a blind eye for the child to have a better life with a “better family” or allow the child to be returned to the mother for a supposedly not so good of a life. Everyone thought he was stupid that even his girl friend who was closes to him left him because he stood his ground. The lines that follow was one of the best throughout the movie. Overall, it was not all that thought provoking for me but good movie anyway.

Capt. Jack Doyle: Thought you would’ve done that by now. You know why you haven’t? Because you think this might be an irreparable mistake. As usual, dinner would be where we watched our movie, 1 Utama this time around. We have come to take a liking for this shop which we have gone quite often ever since we decided to sit and try. A great place for soup as well as pastas. Too bad I only had their Ratatouile pasta once before it was taken of the menu. I did ask if I could make a special recommendation for it as any nice restaurant owner, he told me I could as long as I made an order in advance. Do check it out if you are thinking of a place to eat at 1 Utama.

‘I’ on Malaysia

Tompi

This was the first band that I heard when coming into the Bukit Kiara Equestrian field. A pretty interesting band from Singapore. Quite a tight band who plays mainly jazz number. The only thing that I would prefer is that the singer continued singing in Bahasa Indonesia as his voice seem to fit much better in the language as compared to English.

Pop Shuvit

We headed to the main stage further down the field and saw Pop Shuvit performed. Not really my type of music but it was nice to see them live considering this band had made quite a great following in Japan.

Hujan

True to its name, it rained when they came on stage. Oh ya, hujan means rain in Bahasa Melayu. It was pouring that we had to squeeze into the many Tuborg tents to keep us dry a little though it didn’t help that much considering the heavy downpour. Irregardless of the rain, people were still moving around in it. Some took the opportunity to have a little fun as well dunking themselves in pool of water as well as stripping to their bikinis (I saw one) to get into the mood of the rain. As it began to subside, I join the crowd and caught their act as they rendered some of their songs. Some of it were familiar due to its airplay on the radio. They appear to mimic the many Indon band out in the market. Nothing too special for me.

George Clinton + P-Funk

This was one of the most strange yet extraordinary group of musician. First of all, they had the most members on stage in total 12 members. They came on stage with all myriad of characters, one sporting a loin cloth around his private area only. It was indeed appealing and great stage present. However, their music didn’t really catch my attention probably due to the bad sound system that accompanied the stage. Next!

Raul Midon

This was one guy I was very interested in catching him perform live. He is supposedly the Stevie Wonder of guitar. Why the similarities? He’s blind. But his disability was not shown at all when he came on to perform. It was one of the best performance of the night whereby not many managed to catch a glimpse of. His guitar slapping performance was jaw dropping. Here is a short clip to prove that he is indeed worthy for a second look.

One Buck Shot

This is the band I saw when I re-entered the venue after grabbing my documenting tool from the car. Wish I had it earlier to capture more of the events. They were indeed really good on stage, one of my favourite Malaysian band. Saw them the first time in university. At the point of time, the night was lit up with a 15 minute fireworks. Tummy was hungry and couldn’t catch their entire repertoir as Planet Hollywood burger was calling. It was smoking!

Tempered Mental

Grab our burger and headed to Era Stage to catch the three piece band. A very solid band. Saw them also when they came to university. Very tight I must say. All of them are really musically talented. Can’t say I like all the songs though there was a little funk style of playing that I like very much. A good band indeed.

The Roots

Off I went to the main stage area where I would spend the remaining night going back and forth to the see the remaining artiste. They were one of the international band which I had not heard before. But the beats and tune that came across was something I had heard at clubs before. Pretty catchy and really great music to dance to. However, the session took quite a long time that I ended dreading it and hoping for it to end. What caught my attention was the trombone and the drum solo. Man that fat dude could really play. I wish I could be like him.

Incognito

This was one of the band I was looking out for. Heard about them, thought I saw them performed before. I guess I didn’t as I didn’t recollect any of the members before. It was the best vocals of the night fronted by three main singers that brought the soul in which one of us. The interesting thing about this band is that all its members are made out of different artiste from different part of the world. This is what I call a global band. Too bad their act didn’t last too long having to give way to the other coming much anticipated artiste.

John Legend

It took some time for John to come on stage. It was such a big difference when Incognito came on after The Roots. Simply smooth transition. Crowd was getting jittery seeking for John to come on. After 20 minutes, he soon appear pumping the crowd with his catchy up beat songs. The one that caught my attention and was the one I was looking out for was his slow numbers where he would sit at the piano and play. However, I was already at the next stage waiting for the next performance. That was indeed romantic. Wish I had someone beside me to share that moment. It was sweet.

Incubus

The most anticipated band of the night soon came on stage. People from the John Legend began to find their through the nooks and cranny of the crowd to get a glimpse of this famous rock. Boy, was it pack. But the atmosphere of the crowd was amazing. I soon believe there was indeed a huge following in Malaysia. Even with my limited of the band songs ended up trying to sing to the songs not wanting to feel left out. The heat was getting to Brandon Boyd as he was soon half naked on stage. Thanks to Malaysia humidity. The band was awesome. Guess the highlight of their performance was their main hits live “Drive” and “Wish you were here”. The guitarist at one point at the end change his guitar for a Chinese instrument that brought the oriental element to the atmosphere. Fortunately, I got a T-shirt at the entrance of the venue to remind me of this band. Simple awesome.

It was simple a great music fest. Very well planned I must say. Can’t wait for the next concert next year with hopes of more big band coming onboard. Great to be apart in Malaysian very own Ozzfest. The following is a sign I took for granted of and would probably take note of the next time I go for a concert.
